Victor Wembanyama sends strong message to NBA after Spurs reach Finals

Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs did what they had to do in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals. They took out the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday with a 111-103 final score.

Now, the Spurs are advancing to the NBA Finals and will take on the New York Knicks. The series kicks off on Wednesday at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. Wembanyama is ready for this moment. After the win over the Thunder, he talked about how badly he wants to win it all.

Victor Wembanyama makes bold statement after Spurs’ win over Thunder

After the game, Wembanyama sent a strong message to the NBA, telling reporters, “I want to win so bad. It’s like my life depends on it.”

“It’s a lifetime chance,” he also added about advancing to the Finals.

Those are bold statements, but it shows how serious this player is about the opportunity that is ahead. Of course, the Knicks are motivated, too, so it will be a battle for the championship.

Wembanyama should already be proud of his showing, regardless of what happens next. He was unanimously named the Western Conference Finals Most Valuable Player on Saturday after leading the Spurs to victory. Wembanyama, 22, posted 22 points and seven rebounds in the game. Looking at the full series, he averaged 27.3 points, 10.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.7 blocks in 37.7 minutes in seven games.

All eyes will be on Wembanyama when the Spurs hit the floor on Wednesday against the Knicks. Seeing him duke it out with Jalen Brunson and the rest of New York will make for exciting basketball.
