Comedian Kam Patterson took the internet by storm after referencing Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson’s breakup during a recent SNL segment. On May 3, Pop Base highlighted Patterson’s commentary, where he mocked the NBA star’s public recognition while making a broader joke about sports leagues.
“Who even is this guy? Wait a minute, there’s a WNBA for men? What would you even call that? The MNBA? To me, he’s not Klay, he’s dirt,” Pop Base wrote in the caption, citing what Kam Patterson had said.
The post rapidly circulated online, drawing strong reactions from users across platforms, with many viewers flooding the comments section to share their opinions.
One X user bluntly pointed out that although the joke was not funny, it still felt like a deserved jab at Thompson.
“The joke was not funny. But he’s right who the f*ck is Klay Thompson. He had the mind to cheat on Megan,” the user wrote.
A significant number of X users also praised Patterson’s bold and pointed humor, arguing that following Thompson’s alleged infidelity and breakup with Megan Thee Stallion, the joke felt justified.
However, some X users offered a different perspective, suggesting the joke was more layered than it initially appeared. According to them, it was aimed less at the individuals involved and more at the fan culture surrounding Megan Thee Stallion.
Kam Patterson jokes about Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson’s split in SNL segment

Comedian Kam Patterson delivered a pointed and humorous take on the recent breakup between NBA star Klay Thompson and rapper Megan Thee Stallion during a “Weekend Update” segment on Saturday Night Live. The commentary came just a week after news of the couple’s split surfaced, drawing public attention.
Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion had been together since July 2025, when they made their relationship official on social media.
Megan confirmed the breakup in a statement shared last week, emphasizing the importance of trust and respect in a relationship. She later shared to her socials:
“I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay. Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward…I’m taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity.” (as reported by The Dallas Morning News.)
During this week’s “Weekend Update,” episode (a clip of which was shared to X on May 3), hosted by Colin Jost and Michael Che, Patterson joined the desk to offer his comedic perspective.
He began by feigning disappointment over the breakup, jokingly masking his excitement while clearly positioning himself as a potential suitor.
“Bro, Megan Thee Stallion is single. I’m so upset,” Kam Patterson said.
Michael Che quickly challenged Patterson’s reaction, pointing out the contradiction in his expression. Patterson continued the bit by exaggerating his concern for Megan,
“This is a smile of desperation. I’m sad. I’m worried about Meg, man. You know she had to quit off Broadway productions of Moulin Rouge? When I heard that news, I couldn’t believe she was in town,” Patterson said.
He then pivoted into describing what he believed Megan needed and remarked that she needed a “real man.”
Che pressed him further, prompting Patterson to outline his idea of a “real man” with exaggerated traits.
“Well, let’s see. First off, he’s probably, I don’t know, 5’8 to 5’10. Second, he’s probably a black man. Because everybody knows black men don’t cheat,” Kam Patterson said.
When Che pointed out that Klay Thompson was Black, Patterson said that he was only “half black” and it was his “white half that cheated” on the rapper.
Patterson continued to build his case, suggesting that a “real man” would also be steadily employed in a thriving industry like entertainment, again alluding to himself.
“Maybe he works on a sketch television show. And he’s not in many sketches, but he’s doing okay. Some say he’s finding his voice more every week,” Kam Patterson added.
Che then called out the obvious, noting that Patterson was clearly attempting to “shoot his shot.” Patterson leaned into the joke, quipping that it was exactly what “Klay Thompson did.”
As the exchange continued, Che questioned whether Patterson actually knew Thompson, to which Patterson denied familiarity, even as he referenced his achievements.
The segment concluded with Patterson directly addressing Megan Thee Stallion in a deliberately self-deprecating pitch. He admitted he might not be what she wants, or even needs, but humorously suggested she consider him anyway, referencing his past attempts to reach out.
Kam Patterson is a regular on Saturday Night Live, having joined the cast for its 51st season in October 2025.
At present, Klay Thompson plays as a guard for the Dallas Mavericks and remains under contract through the 2026–2027 season.
Meanwhile, Megan Thee Stallion’s latest music release is the sultry single Lover Girl, which debuted in October 2025.
