Jannik Sinner reveals truth about why his mom Siglinde rarely attends his matches

Jannik Sinner has been flourishing with his consecutive match-winning streak since suffering his last defeat in the quarter-final stage in Qatar back in February. Since then, he has embarked on a journey, winning 26 matches on the trot and reclaiming his spot at the summit of the ranking.

When Sinner steps up for a clash, it is hard to imagine a scenario where he ends up conceding defeat. Since Qatar, the 24-year-old has ended each competition that he has competed in with the title in his hands.

He featured in the Sunshine Double and cemented his place in history. He became just the seventh man to claim the Indian Wells and Miami titles. The Italian sensation then shifted his focus to the Monte-Carlo Masters and outgunned his arch-rival Carlos Alcaraz for his first title on clay since 2022.

Jannik Sinner extended his searing form at the Madrid Open and became the first to win five consecutive ATP Masters 1000 titles. His parents have witnessed the spectacle that he has produced from the stands at the ongoing Italian Open. However, overall, his mother, Siglinde, rarely appears for her son’s matches.

Sinner opened up about his mother’s absence and playfully explained it in the presence of Italian football legend Paolo Maldini and said:

“When she sees that the match is not stressful, she stays. Then when it’s too much she leaves”.

Recently, Sinner explained the contrasting emotions his parents have exhibited during his match. While his mother is stressed, his father, Hanspeter, remains composed, which is a “good combination” according to the four-time Grand Slam champion.

“So, I’m very happy to share these moments with them. They’re wonderful, wonderful parents. Sometimes, even during matches I like to look at them. My mom is very stressed and my dad’s very calm. So it’s a good combination,” Jannik Sinner said (via Tennis World).

Jannik Sinner is currently competing in front of his home crowd and has scripted a semi-final run at the Foro Italico. He will square off against Daniil Medvedev on Friday for a spot in the final.

It is hard to argue that Jannik Sinner is currently on a historic run. With a record 32nd consecutive ATP Masters 1000 match win, even Sinner has never thought that he would enjoy such a sensational run in his career.

“I would have never imagined to stand here as the player what I’m right now. Back in the days when I was younger, I never thought I would arrive to such a high level of tennis,” Sinner said in his post-match press conference.

Sinner boasts a 34-2 record this season and will be keen to improve it by notching another win against Medvedev in Rome.
