A playful moment between BTS members Jin and Jungkook during the group’s first London concert recently became the subject of heated discussion among fans. The conversation intensified after Jungkook revealed during the following night’s show that he had been experiencing back pain.
During BTS’ first London concert on July 6, Jin playfully jumped onto Jungkook’s back during the performance of Butter. Jungkook carried the eldest member in a piggyback while continuing to perform, drawing cheers from the audience. At one point, Jungkook briefly paused before singing his part then he adjusted Jin’s position on his back afterward and continued the performance.
Throughout the moment, both idols appeared to be enjoying themselves. They were seen smiling, laughing, and giggling as Jin swayed to the music while on Jungkook’s back before eventually climbing down. Videos of the interaction quickly spread across social media, with many fans describing it as a display of the duo’s close friendship.
However, not everyone viewed the moment the same way. A section of the fandom raised concerns over Jungkook’s previous back issues, arguing that the piggyback should not have happened considering reportedly the singer had experienced a herniated disc in the past.
These fans criticized Jin, saying he should have been more mindful of Jungkook’s condition and that the members, now older, should avoid similar interactions during performances. The discussion gained even more attention after BTS’ second London concert on July 7.
During the show, several concertgoers noticed Jungkook rubbing his lower back during the performance before briefly sitting down. Later, during his ending ment, the singer addressed the issue himself, explaining that that he had injured his back during the performance and admitted that the pain affected him for the remainder of the concert.
The singer explained that he felt something suddenly “snap” in his back while performing FYA earlier in the show, saying,
“I was having so much fun performing. I was like “Let’s absolutely crush it tonight!” and just went all out. Then all of a sudden, I felt something snap. I was like “Huh?” and that’s when I realized something was wrong.”
As a result, he said he found it difficult to fully concentrate on the performance from that point onward. His comments immediately sparked widespread concern, with fans flooding social media with messages wishing him a speedy recovery and urging him to get sufficient rest.
At the same time, another debate emerged. Some fans connected Jungkook’s back pain to the previous day’s piggyback with Jin rather than the incident Jungkook himself described. They argued that repeated moments of members climbing onto Jungkook’s back during concerts could have contributed to the injury and urged the group and the company to be more cautious in the future. One fan wrote,
“The jjks kept saying that Jk’s back hurt cause of jin jumping on him,and that Jin’s jokes were always heavy-handed and unnatural,Now,are u all satisfied? For the first time Jungkook is complaining and showing his pain,Jk is human too not a steel man..Be fair to Jungkook for once”
As discussions continued online, the incident became a topic of debate within the fandom, with fans on one side urging greater caution regarding Jungkook’s health.
On the face of this backlash, others disagreed with that interpretation, pointing out that Jungkook specifically stated he felt the pain while performing FYA during the second night’s concert. Fans also circulated videos from the performance showing the exact moment Jungkook appeared to react to discomfort before rubbing his back, arguing that his own explanation aligned with what was seen on stage.
Many also emphasized that during the piggyback on July 6, both the BTS members appeared relaxed and cheerful throughout the interaction. They noted that Jungkook willingly carried Jin, adjusted him on his back, and continued smiling and laughing until the playful moment ended. They argued that there was no indication from Jungkook himself that the piggyback had caused his injury, calling for fans to rely on Jungkook’s own explanation rather than speculation.
Jungkook apologizes to fans after revealing back injury during BTS’ London concert
BTS wrapped up the London leg of the European stretch of the ARIRANG World Tour with two concerts at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on July 6 and 7. During his ending ment on the second night, Jungkook addressing his back injury apologized to fans for not being able to perform at his usual level.
Despite the discomfort, Jungkook shared that he had been enjoying the concert so much that he had gone all out on stage before realizing he was injured. He then lightened the mood by jokingly blaming the audience for getting him too excited, quickly clarifying that he was only kidding.
Before ending his speech, the youngest BTS member assured fans that he would take proper care of his health so he could return to the stage in good condition as soon as possible. He also thanked the audience for making the concert memorable and expressed his love and gratitude before saying goodbye.
Following the London concerts, BTS will head to Germany as the ARIRANG World Tour continues across Europe. BTS is next scheduled to perform two consecutive shows in Munich on July 11 and 12, marking the next stop of the ongoing tour.
