Twitch star Michael “Shroud” has gone viral on social media, leaving the online community concerned, by not livestreaming in over three weeks after he shared a cryptic message during his last broadcast. On August 12, 2026, prominent esports personality Jake Lucky posted a 43-second video from Shroud’s July 23, 2026, Twitch broadcast.
In it, the Canadian personality claimed that he “didn’t know what he was doing in his day-to-day,” and that he “needed to lock in and figure it out.”
Shroud stated:
“Anyway, GGs. I don’t know what the plan is for this weekend. I don’t even know if I’ll be live. I don’t know what I am doing in my day-to-day. I need to lock in and figure it out. So, if it takes the weekend to do that, maybe we’ll see. But I appreciate you guys watching. That was a lot of fun even though we lost. Yeah. Have a good evening, everybody. Or night, depending on where you are.”
Before concluding the broadcast, the former esports athlete stated that his next livestream would depend on “how he’s feeling,” adding that he was “going off of vibes”:
“I may or may not stream this weekend; I don’t know. It depends on how I’m feeling. Depends on if I have a random itch. I’m going off of vibes. Like, if I have an itch to play a game, I’m just going to go live and play. I don’t care. It could be any game. But, yeah…”
Fans had a lot to say about Shroud’s statements, with some community members voicing their concerns.

“Bad idea to express any sort of negative sentiment” – Asmongold on Shroud’s statements before taking a break from streaming
On August 12, 2026, Twitch and Kick streamer Zack “Asmongold” shared his thoughts on Shroud’s statements before the latter took a hiatus from livestreaming.
Expressing his belief that “it’s almost always a bad idea” for streamers “to express any sort of negative sentiment they have towards making content,” the former OTK (One True King) member wrote:
“No one has sympathy for anyone in an entertainment job because it’s seen as a luxury profession. Regardless of why this is, it is. As a creator, it’s almost always a bad idea to express any sort of negative sentiment you have towards making content or the effects of it.”
Shroud made headlines last year, in November 2025, when he called The Game Awards “rigged” while advocating for Arc Raiders for Game of the Year.
