Emma Hayes announced her 23-player roster for the U.S. women’s national team trip to South America to face Brazil in two international friendlies. Highlighting the roster was the return of Chicago Stars forward Mallory Swanson.

Swanson, who just scored her first National Women’s Soccer League goal since July 2024 against Bay FC, gave birth to her daughter Josie last November. Her last U.S. roster appearance was October 2024. According to U.S. Soccer, if Swanson features against Brazil on June 6, it will mark 604 days from her last appearance.

Swanson rejoins her ‘Triple Espresso’ teammates Sophia Wilson — who also returned this year from maternity leave after welcoming her daughter Gianna last year — and Trinity Rodman.

“It’s fantastic for our team, both on and off the field, to have Trinity and our two soccer moms back on the same roster,” Hayes said, via a press release. “However, we recognize the importance of preparing for World Cup qualifying and the need for the group to come together in that process. We need to build connections between players, and with limited time before qualifying, every minute counts.”

“This trip offers amazing opportunities for these players to experience Brazil, its culture, stadiums and passionate fans, and especially playing the World Cup hosts,” Hayes continued. “Few challenges in women’s international soccer compare to facing Brazil in Brazil, so we’re excited for the valuable lessons this experience will bring.”

A few players are notably missing from the roster due to injury, including Houston Dash goalkeeper Jane Campbell, Chelsea FC defender Naomi Girma and Manchester City midfielder Sam Coffey. In April, Angel City FC defender Emily Sams was on the roster, but was not named to the June roster.

Instead, open roster spots have led the way for Washington Spirit defender Tara Rudd, Kansas City Current midfielder Croix Bethune and North Carolina Courage midfielder Riley Jackson to be listed. In goal, Utah Royals goalkeeper Mandy McGlynn has replaced the injured Campbell.

The full U.S. roster is listed below. Matches against Brazil will take place on June 6 in São Paulo (5:30 PM EST, TBS, HBO Max, Peacock, Telemundo), and June 9 in Fortaleza (8:30 PM EST, TNT, HBO Max, Peacock).
