BREAKING: Huge Setback For Former WWE Stars’; New Champions Crowned

Former WWE stars were beginning to make significant strides as champions on the independent circuit. However, they suffered a major setback, losing their titles at a recent wrestling show.

The aforementioned stars in question are Cassie Lee and Jessi McKay, collectively known as The IInspiration. They became a popular duo as The IIconics in WWE and even had a major moment when they became the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions at their premier show, WrestleMania, in 2019.

Following their respective departures in the early 2020s, they had a brief stint in TNA Wrestling before taking a break from wrestling. Following their return, they had their second tenure in TNA and then signed with AEW, making their debut this year. Furthermore, Lee and McKay also became the Princess Tag Team Champions by defeating Ober Eats (Yuki Kamifuku and Wakana Uehara) at the Grand Princess event on March 23.

However, the Australian tag team suffered a major setback at the recent Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling’s YES! Wonderland ’26 show. Lee and McKay lost a title match against Miu Watanabe & Rika Tatsumi, who became the new Princess Tag Team titleholders, with The IInspiration’s reign coming to an end in only 35 days.

Former WWE stars The IInspiration tipped for a run as authority figures

Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay are considered one of the most enthralling women’s teams in professional wrestling. They garnered popularity for their in-ring acumen, captivating personalities, and mic skills. In an episode of Notsam Wrestling, WWE personnel Sam Roberts said that The IInspiration would make great authority figures in All Elite Wrestling and become part-time wrestlers at the same time.

“I think they would be great authority figures in AEW, you know what I mean, like something that is mic heavy, you know, and wrestle every now and then. But they’re so good man like so good, I’m excited to see what happens for them.”- [1:12:48 – 1:13:02]

This could be the direction that The IInspiration could take in the Jacksonville-based promotion, considering they have not been used much since their debut at AEW House Rules in Brisbane in February 2026. So, it remains to be seen what will happen next for them.
