    Ballarat Throwers A Talented Bunch | Athletics Victoria

    The Ballarat Regional Athletic Centre (BRAC) is developing talented throws athletes with Round 4 of AVSL schedule seeing 5 Hammer records and 2 Discus records broken in the same day! BRAC records tumbled as the talented throwers used the sunshine to produce their best efforts of the season.

    Eureka Athletics member Alyssa Benbow broke the BRAC U16, U17, U18, U20 and OPEN Women’s Discus record with a throw of 41.26M before going on to break the U16, U17 and U18 Hammer record with a throw of 45.86M on the same day! Younger brother Leigh Benbow also broke the Hammer record in the U14 Men with a throw of 32.63M with fellow Eureka clubmate Ben Locke securing a Hammer Record in the U18 Men throwing 52.27M

    Veteran athletes were also in full swing with Wendouree Teammates Phillip McLennan and Chris Lang both breaking the Men’s 50+ and 60+ record respectively in the Hammer. McLennan managed a 22.96M while Chris Lang found 18.89M. To cap off the day, Ballarat YCW athlete Kim Gleeson broke the Women’s 40+ category with a throw of 31.78M in the Hammer

    Well done to all participants at AVSL Round 4 in Ballarat.
